Windows Media Center in NZ using DVB-S - part 3
I have written before about getting Windows Media Center working in New Zealand using DVB-T and DVB-S, part1 and DVB-S, part2. This covers accessing Freeview TV using an ariel and a dish so I thought that I had covered everything. It turns out not.
Time moves on and The Optus D1 has been replaced by Optus D2 and now its been replaced by Koreasat 6. This has meant I need to setup Media Center again.
The settings I used were for a custom dual oscillator.
Low LOF: 10,750
High LOF: 11,300
Switch: 15,000
POL: Dual
As before Media Center does not know the transponder information for Freeview in NZ, it was never sold in NZ. Luckily that information is available.
The manual transponder information is
| Frequency | Symbol Rate | Polarity |
|---|---|---|
| 12,484 | 22,500 | H |
| 12,530 | 30,000 | H |
| 12,455 | 22,500 | H |
Next was getting the EPG, I use EPG Collector, which is brilliant. The settings I used in EPG Collector.ini were
[GENERAL]
Timeouts=10,600,5,1,50
Option=DuplicateSameChannels,WmcImport,AutoMapEpg,WmcStarSpecial
[DVBS]
Satellite=1600
Dish=10750000,10750000,0,,Legacy
TuningFile=160.0°E Optus D1.xml
ScanningFrequency=12456000,22500,3/4,H,EIT
Location=NZL,0
Option=UseFreeSatTables
If you see the message ** Excluded (new station) ** in the log file then you will need to run EPG Center and on the channels tab scan for the available channels and make sure non are excluded.
